As of my last update in September 2021, here are some of the most popular breeds in South Korea and their characteristics:
Cats:
Korean Short Hair (Korean Domestic Cat):
Characteristics: This is the most common domestic cat in Korea.

They are known for their friendly and adaptable nature.
Russian Blue:

Scottish Fold:
Characteristics: Just as in Japan, the Scottish Fold is popular in South Korea.

Dogs:
Maltese:
Characteristics: This small dog breed is known for its long, silky white hair.
Maltese are friendly, fearless, and playful.
They have a spirited and lively nature and are very devoted to their owners.
Poodle (particularly Toy and Miniature Poodles):
Characteristics: Poodles, regardless of size, are known for their curly, hypoallergenic coat. They are highly intelligent, trainable, and have a lively disposition.
Their adaptability to apartment living and charming personalities make them a favorite.
Shih Tzu:
Characteristics: Shih Tzus have a distinct long, flowing coat and a sturdy build.
They are known for their friendly disposition and outgoing nature.
Their alert and lively demeanor combined with their affectionate temperament makes them great companions.
